PLANT CITY, Fla. (AP) — The Latest on the murder-suicide involving a Florida sheriff's deputy (all times local):

3:30 p.m.

Authorities say a deputy in Florida has killed his wife, his daughter and his granddaughter before turning the gun on himself.

During a Wednesday afternoon news conference, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said that Terry Strawn, a school security officer, shot his wife and 6-year-old granddaughter, then went to his daughter's house and shot her.

Chronister says Strawn went on the department's main radio channel to say he'd harmed his family and then shot himself near a high school. Strawn used his service revolver.

Strawn was a deputy from 1991 until his retirement in 2017. He was rehired as a school security officer in 2018.

Authorities in Florida say a sheriff's deputy killed three relatives, including a child, before killing himself outside of a high school.

The incident unfolded Wednesday morning in Plant City, a rural community east of Tampa.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says a woman and a child were killed at one home, a woman was killed at another home, and the deputy shot himself outside Plant City High School in front of three other deputies who had arrived at the scene.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said during a news conference the deputy came on the department's main radio channel to say he'd harmed his family. He also told deputies he was going to kill himself at the high school.

Names of the victims and the deputy weren't immediately released.
