THE GRISWOLD'S — It's Christmas time, which means for it's time to watch "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."
For me, it's an all-time classic and a movie I know by heart. In fact, it's so ingrained into my brain that every year when I get on my roof to hang Christmas lights, I think of Chevy Chase's Clark Griswold climbing up the ladder to hang his lights only to lose the ladder, hang from the rain gutter and eventually fall into some bushes. Then I look like a madman sitting on my roof holding a strand of lights and laughing to myself.
Since I have seen this movie way too many times, I would have laughed had I seen the Christmas decoration in this video. The man in the video, however, is a decent and amazing human being who has not wasted hours of his life watching "Christmas Vacation."
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
Alfred Norwood, Jr. walked by this house and saw what he thought was a man dangling from the roof. But it was actually a dummy dressed up to mimic the scene in the movie. Norwood rushed to aid the man and when he wasn't responsive he even called 911.
Here is a news station covering the story and you can get a look at the actual decoration in all of its glory.
We could laugh at Mr. Norwood, but that would be a mistake. I wish more of us were like this incredible man who rushed to help a total stranger just because it was the right thing to do. Thanks for the chuckle, but more importantly, thanks for the example, Mr. Norwood.
