FINDING THE SCOOP — Not everyone will wind up in the NFL.
The NCAA has "over 380,000 student-athletes, and most of us go pro in something other than sports," if you believe the amateur athletics association's tagline.
In football, about 1.5 percent of players will wind up in the NFL. The rest? Well, better pick the right major.
We found one Aggie athlete who may have already found his future career.

Gerold Bright, star reporter
Gerold Bright ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries to help Utah State roll to a 52-13 rout of North Texas in the New Mexico Bowl this weekend.
But before the game started, the junior tailback from Pensacola, Florida put on a far different hat — that of ace sports reporter and amateur broadcaster.
This is the part where we want to tell Bright to stick to his day job. But maybe that’s just to preserve our own job security.

Santa Claus is coming to Cedar City
If you missed Southern Utah’s 78-69 overtime win Saturday afternoon over Pepperdine, you missed a great game.
Not many people will fault you: though the 5-3 Thunderbirds are off to their best start to the season in year, they haven’t finished above .500 in back-to-back non-conference seasons since transitioning to Division I in 1993.
But more importantly, those who missed this game also missed Santa Claus.

That’s self-described SUU superfan "Big Thunder," the shirtless T-bird who rarely misses a game and can be found on the front row of hoops contests in Cedar City most weeks.
This week, during the T-birds’ "Christmas in the AFEC," Big Thunder went Big Jolly in the most seasonal way.
No word on if Santa Thunder was kissing mommy underneath the mistletoe last night.

Not a bad beat
After BYU’s 92-90 overtime gut-punch to UNLV in the first game of the Neon Hoops Showcase in Las Vegas, the event at T-Mobile Arena that benefits Coaches vs. Cancer still had an encore to attend.
If you didn’t stick around for the game, you weren’t alone.
A sparse crowd saw LSU hold off Saint Mary’s, 78-74 in that late-night contest in Sin City. And many of the fans didn’t know a player in the game.
But all of them had a rooting interest.
That’s because the betting line closed at LSU minus-3.5, and the favored Tigers saw a double-digit lead in the second half evaporate quickly on some hot shooting from the Gaels.
But Saint Mary’s had to foul — and the Tigers made free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win, and the cover.
Just look at how these sports fans handled the final 30 seconds — and a near bad-beat 3-pointer at the buzzer from Saint Mary’s.
