SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Federal land managers have cleared the way for population control measures for the wild horses in the Onaqui Mountains southwest of Salt Lake City. The Bureau of Land Management said Friday those measures will include fertility control vaccines and the gather and removal of excess horses from the area. Officials said chronic overpopulation is damaging to the long-term health of wild horse herds, other wildlife and the land on which they all depend.
HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (AP) — The 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base in northern Utah is starting to fill up its planned roster of F-35A fighters. Base officials said the wing's 421st Fighter Squadron on Wednesday received its first two F-35As and that the wing is scheduled to have a full complement of 78 aircraft by the end of 2019.

The U.S. Olympic Committee said Friday it was selecting Utah's capital, which stood out as a predictable, slam-dunk pick in a process that also included Denver and Reno, Nevada.
NEW YORK (AP) — Disney Channel actor Stoney Westmoreland has been fired after he was arrested for allegedly attempting to have a sexual relationship with a minor. Disney publicist Chrissy Woo said Saturday that Westmoreland had been dropped from the sitcom "Andi Mack," on which he plays the grandfather of the 13-year-old title character. A message left with Westmoreland's agent was not immediately returned.
