BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanian authorities say 18 wedding guests were injured when the wooden floor of a restaurant balcony collapsed.
Mihai Mitrea, spokesman for the emergency services, said guests plunged about three meters (13 feet) after the floor of the "Hunter" restaurant collapsed Sunday evening at the Durau mountain resort in northern Romania.
Mitrea told Digi 24 television station Monday that people suffered fractures and bruises, with four people seriously injured.
Owner Mihaela Petrescu told the station that the structure was built two years ago and that people were watching the France-Croatia World Cup final at the time of the collapse.
Preliminary findings say the balcony gave in as there were too many people on it.
Authorities are investigating the owners on suspicion of causing bodily harm.
