LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears have signed receiver Bennie Fowler to a one-year contract.

Fowler caught 56 passes for 698 yards and five touchdowns in three seasons with the Denver Broncos. He had 350 yards and three TDs last year.

He also caught the final two-point conversion pass from Peyton Manning in the Broncos' 2016 Super Bowl victory over the Carolina Panthers.

The moved announced Monday comes after the Bears decided last week not to match the New Orleans Saints' offer sheet for Cameron Meredith.

Chicago went 5-11 and finished last in the NFC North for the fourth straight year. The Bears hired coach Matt Nagy in January to replace the fired John Fox.
