BOSTON (AP) — Boston College has hired Joanna Bernabei-McNamee as its new women's basketball coach.

Athletic director Martin Jarmond announced the hiring Tuesday. Bernabei-McNamee replaces Erik Johnson, who resigned last month.

Bernabei-McNamee spent the past two seasons at Albany, where she led the Great Danes to a 45-19 record. She guided them to a NCAA berth in her first season in 2016-17 and a WNIT berth last season following a 24-8 campaign.

She was named the 2017 Women's Division I Coach of the Year by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York.

Prior to Albany, Bernabei-McNamee spent three seasons at the University of Pikeville, where she won 63 games and made a NAIA Final Four appearance in 2016.
