BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The Latest on a settlement of a lawsuit over a handcuffed man's shooting death in Louisiana (all times local):

1:45 p.m.

A plaintiffs' attorney confirms that a settlement has resolved a federal lawsuit against a Louisiana sheriff over a handcuffed man's shooting death.

Robert Cox is one of the lawyers for relatives of Victor White III. He said in an email Friday that he can't disclose any terms of the settlement.

Court records indicate a magistrate judge dismissed the case after attorneys met Thursday to discuss a settlement of the suit that White's family filed against Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal and a deputy. The records didn't explicitly say a settlement agreement was reached.

A coroner ruled White shot himself in the chest after his arrest in 2014. The 22-year-old's hands were cuffed behind his back when he died in the rear of a patrol car.

However, Hanna previously ruled the manner of White's death hasn't been "conclusively established."

A federal lawsuit against a Louisiana sheriff over a handcuffed man's shooting death has been resolved before trial.

Court records indicate a magistrate judge dismissed the case after attorneys met Thursday to discuss a settlement of the suit that relatives of Victor White III filed against Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal and a deputy.

The records don't explicitly say a settlement agreement was reached, but U.S. Magistrate Patrick Hanna's order says the case can be revived if "the termination process" isn't completed within 60 days.
