ST. ANTHONY, Idaho (AP) — More than 60 pounds of nails have been removed from a popular off-road recreation area in eastern Idaho.
U.S. Bureau of Land Management Recreation Planner Ben Cisna tells KIDK-TV in a story on Friday that the thousands of nails came from pallet burning and other illegal activities at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes.
The 10,600-acre (4,300-hectare) area draws off-road vehicle enthusiasts attracted by dunes up to 400 feet (122 meters) high.
Officials say shifting sands and melting snow exposed the nails.
