Camp Kesem at BYU supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. They are a part of the largest national organization dedicated to this unique population – supporting children with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community. When a parent is diagnosed with cancer it affects the entire family, especially the children. This camp is often the only safe place where children can share their experience of loss and grief with other kids who can relate to their feelings. This experience has a lasting impact on children by providing them a peer-support network that understands their unique needs, builds confidence, and strengthens their communication skills. Camp Kesem is completely run by students from BYU who volunteer year-round to create, manage and run their life changing programs. They provide a week-long FREE summer camp and year-round support for children throughout Utah. SelectHealth recognizes the lasting impact of Camp Kesem as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
