WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — Walter Whyte turned a 3-point play with 11 seconds left in the game to lift Boston University to a 61-59 win at Army in the Patriot League regular season finale Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers clinched a first-round tournament bye with a win over Lafayette Wednesday, and if Lehigh loses to the Leopards, they would host a quarterfinal game on Thursday.

BU (14-15, 10-8) led by 12 at intermission, but Army stormed back with a 14-3 run sparked by an Alex King 3 and capped by a Jordan Fox trey that got the Black Knights (13-16, 6-12) within one, 38-37. From there, neither team could find an advantage. King hit a 3 to give Army a 59-56 lead with 1:43 left, but the Black Knights could not score again. Cedric Hankerson's two free throws made it 59-58 and Whyte's layup put the Terriers in the lead.

Whyte, Javante McCoy and Hankerson each scored 10 points for BU.

Luke Morrison scored 14 points, King added 11 and Thomas Funk 10 for Army.
