IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a 47-year-old snowmobiler was killed in an avalanche in eastern Idaho.

The Post Register reports Troy Leishman, of Idaho Falls, was snowmobiling with a group of friends when he was buried in the slide in the Sheep Creek area of Bonneville County on Tuesday afternoon.

Rescuers found him and dug him out, but he didn't survive.

It was the third avalanche death in the area this year.
