LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Porto saw its second 5-0 result in five days but this time it was the team doing all the scoring.
Tiquinho Soares struck twice to lead Porto to a 5-0 victory on Sunday over Rio Ave and return to the top of the Portuguese league.
The big win came after Porto was completely outclassed at home by Liverpool in a 5-0 defeat in the opening leg of their Champions League round-of-16 match on Wednesday.
The second leg is on March 6 at Anfield.
Sergio Oliveira and Moussa Marega added goals to Soares' double, while Rio Ave defender Marcelo scored an own-goal.
Porto moved two points ahead of defending champion Benfica and also has a game in hand.
Braga remained in fourth place after routing Guimaraes 5-0.
Sporting Lisbon is five points behind Porto before it visits Tondela on Monday.
