College of Charleston beats UNC Wilmington 88-74

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Grant Riller and Jarrell Brantley combined for 51 points on 19-of-25 shooting, including 7 of 9 from 3-point range, to help College of Charleston beat UNC Wilmington 88-74 on Saturday night for its 10th consecutive win.

Riller made 11 of 14 from the field and finished with 28 points and Brantley hit 4 of 4 on 3-pointers. Joe Chealey had 15 points and Cameron Johnson scored 10 for College of Charleston (22-6, 13-3 Colonial Athletic Association).

Chealey scored six points and Riller hit two 3-pointers during a tiebreaking 17-5 spurt that gave the Cougars a 74-62 lead with five minutes to play. Jordon Talley hit a 3 and Marcus Bryan made two free throws to pull UNCW within seven points less than a minute later, but the Seahawks went scoreless for nearly three minutes and a 3 by Brantley made it 81-67 with 1:48 left.

Devontae Cacok — who came averaging 13.4 rebounds per game, No. 1 in the nation — had 29 points and 17 rebounds for UNCW (9-19, 6-10). The junior's dunk to open the scoring gave him 1,000 career points to become the 25th Seahawk to reach the milestone. It was his conference-leading 20th double-double of the season.

The Cougars shot a season-high 68 percent (34 of 50) from the field.
