HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Jordan Capps scored 22 points and Marlain Veal added 16 more and Southeastern Louisiana defeated Abilene Christian 68-54 Saturday night, clinching a berth in next month's Southland Conference tournament.

Southeastern Louisiana (18-10, 12-3) stretched its win streak to five games and remains in sole possession of second place, a half-game back of Southland leader Nicholls (18-9, 12-2). The Lions defeated Nichols on Jan. 27 and close out the regular season against the Colonels on March 3.

A Jabbar Singleton 3-pointer broke a 2-2 tie and Southeastern Louisiana never looked back, building leads of as many as 24 points. The Lions shot 50 percent (28 of 56) and scored 24 points off 15 Abilene Christian turnovers.

Singleton finished with 11 points, four assists and six rebounds.

Jaren Lewis and Tevin Foster scored 12 points each to lead the Wildcats (15-12, 7-7), who shot 34 percent (20 of 59).
