WEST LONG BEACH, N.J. (AP) — Isaiah Reese had 26 points and matched a career-high with six steals to lead Canisius to a 78-60 victory over Monmouth on Friday night for its sixth straight win.
Canisius (19-9, 13-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) moved into a first-place tie with Rider, and faces the Broncs on Sunday. Monmouth (9-18, 5-10) has lost two of its last three games.
Reese, who averages 15.9 points and 2.2 steals per game, was 10 of 18 from the floor and made four 3-pointers. Jermaine Crumpton added 15 points and Takal Molson had 10 for the Golden Griffins.
Deion Hammond and Louie Pillari had 14 points apiece for Monmouth.
Canisius closed the first half on a 10-3 surge, and opened the second with a 21-11 run for a 60-41 lead. Reese scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting in the second half.
