RENO, Nev. (AP) — No. 24 Nevada has lost star point guard Lindsey Drew for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Coach Eric Musselman told the Reno Gazette Journal it's a "devastating" blow to the Wolf Pack (22-5, 11-2), who lead the Mountain West Conference by two games over Boise State (20-6, 10-4).
Nevada is now down to seven eligible scholarship players and four walk-ons with five regular-season games remaining.
Drew, the son of former NBA star Larry Drew, suffered the non-contact injury at the end of the first half in a 77-72 win over Boise State Wednesday.
The junior was averaging 8.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and nearly 30 minutes of playing time per game. He came one shy of a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in Nevada's 83-58 win over San Diego State last Saturday.
