NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — David Caraher scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds and passed for five assists as Houston Baptist roared back from a 17-point first-half deficit to keep Northwestern State winless in Southland Conference play, 77-70 on Wednesday night.
Northwestern State hit 11 of its first 15 shots to take a quick, 22-7 lead, but the Huskies closed the half on a 30-17 run over the final 10 minutes to trail by just four at intermission, 43-39 of the first half.
Houston Baptist held the Demons scoreless for more than six minutes as they closed out the game.
Jalon Gates added 12 points, Braxton Bonds 11 and Edward Hardt 10 and Bonds collected nine assists for the Huskies (6-20, 2-11).
Ishmael Lane scored 21 points and grabbed 11 boards to lead the Demons (3-22, 0-14), who finished 30 of 61 from the field, including 8 of 19 from distance. Iziahiah Sweeney added 14 points.
