LONDON (AP) — Arsenal says striker Alexandre Lacazette will be out for up to six weeks following knee surgery.

The France international underwent an arthroscopy on his left knee on Tuesday.

Arsenal says the "minor procedure was a success and he will now undergo a period of rehabilitation."

The London club envisages Lacazette will return to the squad within four to six weeks.

It is a blow for Arsenal, which sold striker Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window after buying Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal is sixth in the Premier League and could be relying on winning the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League. Arsenal could collect silverware on Feb. 25 if it beats Manchester City in the League Cup final.
