Stony Brook continues dominance of Maine with 64-61 win

BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Akwasi Yeboah scored with 44 seconds left for the lead and Tyrell Sturdivant added three free throws in Stony Brook's 64-61 victory over Maine on Sunday.

Sturdivant's final free throws with three seconds left made it 63-59.

UC Iroegbu led the Seawolves (10-16, 5-7 America East) with 13 points. Yeboah, Sturdivant and Olaniyi added 11 each with Olaniyi making three 3-pointers. Junior Saintel had a career-high five blocks by halftime.

Aaron Calixte scored 19 points with six assists with Isaiah White adding 14 points and Ilker Er 11 for the Black Bears (6-21, 3-9).

Both teams shot under 40 percent but Stony Brook made 11 of 29 3-pointers (38 percent) to beat the Bears for the 16th consecutive time.

Maine built an eight-point lead before a 12-1 run gave the Seahawks a 50-47 edge with 8:25 to go. There were five lead changes and two ties after that.
