BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Eddie Reese scored 19 points with six assists and Southern beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-62 on Saturday night.

Reese was 7 of 14 from the field including four from distance for the Jaguars (11-14, 7-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who had a 43-27 rebounding edge over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Emanual Shepherd added 15 points and nine rebounds and Jared Sam scored 14 points and led the team with 11 rebounds.

Southern trailed 31-27 at the break and Shepard scored nine points as part of an 11-4 start to the second half that moved the Jaguars into a 38-35 lead with 13:21 to play. Arkansas-Pine Bluff cut it to 65-60 with 1:06 left but could not get closer.

Martaveous McKnight scored 23 points with five rebounds and four assists for the Golden Lions (9-17, 9-3).
