The Jazz have never been more involved in the overall trade market conversation, with multiple players on the market and the Jazz open to other moves. Wrapping things up

It looks like there aren't any deadline buzzer-beating moves to be made around the NBA, so we'll go ahead and wrap up this live blog. In the end, 11 moves were made by NBA teams on this deadline day, including several by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Jazz had one of those deals, sending Rodney Hood to the Cavs in exchange for Jae Crowder. Joe Johnson and $3.2 million in cash from the Cavs and Jazz was sent to the Sacramento Kings in the deal, while the Jazz also got a 2024 second-round pick swap with Cleveland. The market tightened for players like Utah's Derrick Favors, Memphis' Tyreke Evans, and Boston's Marcus Smart, as no team was willing to give up a first round pick for those expiring players. In the end, their teams decided to keep what they had. A number of minor moves, primarily concerned with minor salary savings, flurried at the end of the deadline. The NBA's 1:00 p.m. MT deadline has arrived. That doesn't necessarily mean no more deals: teams often call the league office right before the deadline, and it takes a few minutes (even up to an hour) before we hear about them. But this signals the beginning of the end.

Orlando's Payton traded to Suns

Not a good day for players drafted late in the lottery of the 2014 NBA draft. Elfrid Payton, drafted 10th in 2014, has been traded to the Phoenix Suns for a second round pick.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 8, 2018 It's reportedly Memphis' second rounder that the Magic are getting, so it's a relatively good second rounder. Still, it's an official sign that Payton has disappointed in his time as the Magic's lead PG. And, to continue our streak of Shelvin Mack-adjacent news, Mack will get more playing time with the Magic with Payton out.

Sheldon Mac to Atlanta

No, not Shelvin Mack. The guard formerly named Sheldon McClellan legally changed his name last year.

Washington is trading guard Sheldon Mac to Atlanta, league sources tell Yahoo.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 8, 2018 That being said, Mac tore his Achilles earlier on in the season, so I'd expect the Hawks are taking on his salary and a roster spot in exchange for a pick of some kind. This way, Washington can also participate in the buyout market, possibly for Joe Johnson.

Portland dumps Vonleh

Portland has traded Noah Vonleh and cash to Chicago for the rights to Milocan Rakovic, league sources tell ESPN.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 8, 2018 This is all about Portland avoiding the luxury tax, while Chicago gets a quick look at a stretchy big man to play some of Nikola Mirotic's former minutes. I think Portland fans thought Vonleh had more value than this, but it's another No. 9 pick in the NBA draft that has disappointed.

Small Brooklyn/New Orleans trade:

New Orleans is trading forward Dante Cunningham to Brooklyn for guard Rashad Vaughn, league sources tell Yahoo.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 8, 2018 Both Cunningham and Vaughn are minor pieces. Cunningham didn't play in New Orleans' last game (against Utah). Meanwhile, Vaughn was just traded in the Bucks/Nets Zeller deal earlier this week, and played exactly one game in a Nets uniform. He has to move again very quickly.

Denver trades a PG

The Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, and New York Knicks have agreed to a three-team deal, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Denver, New York and Dallas agreed on a three-way deal, league sources tell ESPN. Mudiay to Knicks; Devin Harris to Denver and Doug McDermott to Dallas.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 8, 2018 My quick reaction: while Emmanuel Mudiay has disappointed as a prospect, I don't know that Devin Harris, who turns 35 next week, will be a significant upgrade for the Nuggets in their playoff race. Right now, 538.com has the Jazz at a 80 percent chance of making the playoffs, while the Nuggets have a 65 percent chance.

One hour until the deadline

It's now one hour until the deadline, and while many of the questions have been answered for the Utah Jazz, there's still one big one out there: does Derrick Favors get moved? While the feeling is that Favors is still very likely to leave Utah in the summer, there may not be any buyers left for him in the market now. And the recent good play from the Ricky Rubio, Favors, and Gobert lineup doesn't make trading Favors any easier... that group is outscoring opponents by 30 (!) points per 100 possessions during the Jazz's win streak.

Another minor trade

Toronto is finalizing deal to send Bruno Caboclo to Sacramento for Malachi Richardson, league sources tell Yahoo.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 8, 2018 It looks like the major reason for this deal from Toronto's perspective is giving them some cap space (about $1M more) to use in the buyout market. The Kings will waive Caboclo, according to the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones.

Report: Jazz trade Rodney Hood

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Utah Jazz have traded Rodney Hood and Joe Johnson to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose.

Utah will also send Joe Johnson to Sacramento, and Cleveland will send Jae Crowder and Derek Rose to Utah, league sources tell ESPN. Sacramento sends George Hill to the Cavs.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 8, 2018 The Jazz tried to acquire Jae Crowder before, including in sign-and-trade negotiations with the Boston Celtics when the Cs needed cap space to sign Gordon Hayward. But now, they acquire him at the price of the remainder of Rodney Hood's season, and his RFA rights.

Memphis has traded James Ennis to Detroit for Brice Johnson and a second-round pick, league sources tells ESPN.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 8, 2018 James Ennis is a nice wing role player that doesn't upset the apple cart too much: he just defends well and uses 13 percent of possessions. Brice Johnson, also acquired in the Blake Griffin deal, is younger, but hasn't shown enough to me at either the NBA or G-League levels to make me think he'll become anything. A Memphis second round pick might, though.

More on the Cavs/Lakers deal

The Cavaliers gave up Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and the Nets' first round pick in 2018. With Isaiah Thomas gone and Jae Crowder struggling, there's a lot of pressure for Cavs owner Dan Gilbert to pick a great player with that pick, currently slated at No. 7. I think this is a bad trade for Cleveland. Meanwhile, the Lakers make out great: they open up cap space in 2018 to chase free agents if they want to, get a first round pick for their troubles. Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance are the kind of young players who have put up numbers, but have done very little to help their teams win in their time on the court. Both are defensive liabilities. The Cavaliers can no longer trade their Brooklyn pick without acquiring another first round pick, so any deal sending it for a bigger star seems to be ruled out. It doesn't feel like this is enough to return the Cavaliers to championship contention.

Cavaliers and Lakers making a trade

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report the talks, but The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor says this is the proposed deal:

I'm hearing it's Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, and the Cavs first to Lakers for Clarkson and Nance.

— Andy Larsen (@andyblarsen) February 7, 2018 But still, it's surprising that the Lakers were able to get a first round pick and talent back for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance. While those two are reasonably decent and young players, they're exactly the kind of pieces that don't help whatsoever with the Cavs' terrible defense, still last in the league. This also impacts the Jazz in a big way: now the Cavs don't have their 2018 first round pick to trade for Derrick Favors or Rodney Hood.

Joe Johnson's future

With Joe Johnson, there seems to be a realistic expectation that he will be with another team after the All-Star break, whether that's because of a trade or a buyout. The Athletic's Michael Scotto reported that the Jazz and Nuggets had explored a Joe Johnson for Wilson Chandler deal:

Chandler will likely pick up his $12.8 million player option for next year, so it's about the Nuggets getting more cap flexibility for 2018-19, while the Jazz add an impactful wing. Unfortunately, Chandler has also had the worst season of his career this year, and turns 31 in May. Do the Jazz think they can get him back to the player he was? It's not the only deal that the Jazz have been offered for Johnson, but the others also involved the Jazz taking on long-term salary. Minnesota is said to be in interested in Johnson, though at the cost of taking on Cole Aldrich. Johnson, because of the possibility of waiving him or including his salary in a bigger trade, likely would be traded very close to the deadline, if he is at all.

Derrick Favors looks to be the plan B

For expiring forward Derrick Favors, the market was always going to be thin because of the lack of need for big men around the league. With much of the league going from playing two big men on the court at the same time to one big man, the league is littered with players that have lost playing time as a result. Favors is one of them. But he's still exceptionally talented, a top-15 center in the league. So he should have more value than at Utah, where he has to play power forward next to Rudy Gobert in a combination that gives the Jazz some really limited spacing, although it has worked well during the Jazz's seven-game win streak. Regardless of the recent success, it's clear that it's very unlikely Favors will be playing for the Jazz in 2018-19. But even the teams looking for an impact center have another primary option: All-NBA center DeAndre Jordan, who looks to be on the trade block as the Clippers figure out their next contention timeframe. Cleveland is said to be interested in Jordan, as is Milwaukee (even though they just traded for backup center Tyler Zeller). So for the Jazz, it becomes about finding a disappointed Jordan suitor as the deadline approaches, and sending them Favors for some percentage of Jordan's return. Will that happen? It's hard to say. For what it's worth, Favors has been through it all before. He told us yesterday that he's just going to turn off his phone, and turn on some Dragon Ball Super.

Yahoo's Shams Charania is reporting that the Bulls and Pistons have completed a minor trade of backups, sending the Pistons' center Willie Reed to the Bulls for Chicago's Jameer Nelson.

Sources: Detroit is sending center Willie Reed to the Bulls for Jameer Nelson, who shores up Pistons' PG rotation.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 8, 2018 As part of the deal, the Bulls and Pistons are also swapping second round picks in 2022, Charania says. Both Reed and Nelson were recently acquired by their teams: Reed in the Blake Griffin deal and Nelson in the Nikola Mirotic deal. And honestly, the pick swap part of the deal is kind of hilarious: who knows who will be better between the Pistons and Bulls in four years? And how much does it matter, anyway?

"20 teams" interested in Rodney Hood

That was the report out of the New York Times and reporter Marc Stein early Thursday afternoon.

Watching Utah today will be fascinating, with some 20 teams said to have inquired about Rodney Hood. Does Dennis Lindsey resist the interest and keep Hood ... but also allow him to become a restricted free agent July 1?

— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) February 8, 2018 On Wednesday, Stein had described it as a "lock" that Hood was traded, but now he seems less sure, despite the large number of teams interested. I don't think that number is actually indicative of much: after a player has been as widely rumored about as Hood has been, any team simply doing due diligence would have to call Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey and ask about the situation, even if they had no need for Hood. The big question: are any of those 20 teams actually offering something of greater value to the Jazz than Hood's restricted free agency rights? If the Jazz could get a first round pick, they'd take it, but it's not clear they'd be able to get one: Adrian Wojnarowski said that the league had only offered second round picks for Lakers forward Julius Randle, who is in a similar situation. Meanwhile, the Salt Lake Tribune reported that the teams most interested in Hood are the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Detroit Pistons, and the Chicago Bulls. None of those teams could trade their 2018 first rounders, as OKC and Detroit have already done so, and Chicago's may very well be the No. 1 pick. So what else could the Jazz get? The Thunder could offer young players like Terrence Ferguson or Alex Abrines, the Bulls could offer Justin Holiday, and the Pistons could offer Stanley Johnson. Are those deals enough for the Jazz to move on from Hood? Hood is a better player than all four, though he'll be more expensive than all four very soon. It's a tricky situation. I'm told that it's "likely" that Hood is moved today, but that it is not a lock. If the Jazz do keep Hood, it sounds like they'll have a difficult job to do in re-integrating Hood into the team for the long haul. Hood described himself as "isolated" to Yahoo's Shams Charania Wednesday.
