MAKIN’ MAGIC — As the NFL advances into the division round of the 2017-18 playoffs, local college basketball is just heating up in the unseasonably warm Beehive State.

Don’t worry; that means there were highlights from both.

Here are some of our favorite moments from the weekend. As always, click the video above for each of our Great Clips of the Week.

Mariota Magic

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota made a lot of magical plays en route to his Heisman Trophy season at Oregon in 2014.

And he didn’t stop doing it when he went to the NFL, including in Saturday’s 22-21 win over Kansas City.

With the Titans trailing 21-3 in the third quarter, Mariota had his team poised in the red zone. On third-and-6, he scrambled to his left and fired a pass over the middle.

But Chiefs cornerback Darrelle Revis leapt at the right time, batting the ball down to Titans pass catcher …. Marcus Mariota for a touchdown.

Marietta became the first NFL quarterback to catch a touchdown pass from himself since Minnesota signal caller Brad Johnson in 1997, according to the NFL.

The news gets better for Titans fans: the score was the first of an 18-point second-half comeback, as the Titans beat the Chiefs 22-21.

Hill, for the win

It’s no secret where Dixie State’s men’s basketball team is going when the Trailblazers need a big bucket in crunch time.

Last Wednesday night, visiting Biola just couldn’t stop it in a key Pac West game.

Former Alta High standout Trevor Hill, the Trailblazers’ leading scorer at 18.1 points per game, drove in for an off-balanced layup with 10 seconds left as Dixie State held on for a 70-69 win over Biola at Burns Arena in St. George.

Dixie State moved to 8-6 on the season, including a 5-2 mark in Pac West play. The Trailblazers host Cal Baptist at 7:30 p.m. MST Monday before beginning a stretch that includes six of seven games on the road.

Watch your back

As region play opens up in Utah high school basketball, we remind you of the No. 1 rule for spectators at any game.

Never, ever turn your back to the court.

One Viewmont fan didn't get the memo Friday night.

The play may have been a harbinger for the Vikings, who lost to West Jordan 67-61.
