BALTIMORE (AP) — A judge has ordered a mental evaluation of a man accused of killing two people and shooting wildly at police officers and pedestrians as he led cruisers on a car chase through the streets of Baltimore last week.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Judge Kathleen Sweeney ordered the evaluation Monday of 30-year-old MauSean Carter at the request of a public defender. A prosecutor called the request "frivolous."
Carter faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, for several shootings across the city and Friday's police chase. Police said Monday that Carter had fatally shot a 21-year-old in a "drive-by style" shooting a day before the police chase.
