SANDY, Utah (AP) — Police have identified a contractor who was killed after a dirt wall collapsed on him in Sandy.

Unified police say the victim was 42-year-old Vicente Santoyo of Salt Lake City.

They say he was partially buried when heavy equipment fell on him about 2 p.m. Friday.

Police say chunks of concrete and trees also fell on Santoyo.

The contractor was working in a trench in the Granite Ridge neighborhood at the time of the accident.

Investigators still are trying to determine why the dirt wall caved in.
