Ring in the Christmas season by joining Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Sheraton Salt Lake City’s third annual Brunch with Santa. On December 16, 2017 the Sheraton will serve up a fun holiday morning with the jolly old elf himself. The event includes a gourmet brunch buffet, a special kids’ buffet with cookie decorating fun and complimentary Santa photos for the whole family. The Sheraton’s Brunch with Santa menu will be packed with an array of drinks, desserts, and entrees, including a seafood station featuring oysters, shrimp cocktail and smoked salmon as well as a carving station with peppercorn-and thyme-crusted prime rib and oven-roasted turkey breast. The children’s buffet will offer kids’ favorites such as French toast, a hot chocolate bar and a sugar cookie decorating area with festive toppings. A professional photographer will be on hand to provide families with complimentary photos with Santa in printed or digital format. The Sheraton’s Brunch with Santa will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on the first three Saturdays in December. Reservations can be made by calling (801) 401-2000 and asking for Brunch with Santa. Tickets are $39.95 for adults and $22.50 for children 13 years of age and younger. Children three and younger eat free. Brunch with Santa attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable kid-friendly food items such as breakfast bars, individual oatmeal packets, canned soup, and applesauce cups for donation to local non-profit For the Kids, which provides meals to elementary school children in need. For the Kids also welcomes monetary donations which will be collected and delivered by the Sheraton at the end of December. Sheraton Gooey Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients:
Dough
1 cup warm milk
2 1/2 teaspoons instant dry yeast
2 large eggs at room temperature
1/3 cup butter melted
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Filling
1/2 cup butter almost melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 cup heavy cream
Frosting
11 ounces cream cheese softened
2/3 cup butter softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon maple extract or vanilla
Instructions:
1. Pour warm milk in a mixing bowl.
2. Sprinkle yeast on top of milk.
3. Add eggs, butter, salt and sugar.
4. Add flour and mix using a beater blade until ingredients are combined.
5. Allow mixture to rest 5 minutes so flour has time to soak up the liquids.
6. Scrape the dough off the beater blade and remove it.
7. Attach a dough hook to the mixer and beat the dough on medium speed for 5-7 minutes or until the dough is elastic and smooth.
8. Remove dough from the mixing bowl and place it in a greased bowl.
9. Cover the bowl with a towel and place in a warm place for 30 minutes.
10. For filling, combine butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
11. Sprinkle a pastry mat with flour.
12. Place dough onto a pastry mat and sprinkle the top with extra flour.
13. Flour a rolling pin and roll the dough to about a 12x15" rectangle.
14. Use a spatula to smooth the filling over the whole dough rectangle.
15. Starting on the long end, roll the dough up tightly jelly roll style.
16. Cut into 12 slices and place in a greased 9x13 baking pan.
17. Cover the pan with a towel and allow the rolls to rise for 20 minutes.
18. Preheat an oven to 375 degrees.
19. For filling, warm the heavy cream until it is warm to the touch (not hot).
20. Once the rolls have risen, pour the heavy cream over the top.
21. Bake at 375 degrees for 17-19 minutes.
22. Rolls should be golden brown with the center rolls are cooked through.
23. For frosting, combine the softened cream cheese and butter in a bowl.
24. Add in powdered sugar. Beat until combined.
25. Once the rolls have cooled, spread the frosting on top.
