BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the Idaho median household income increased by nearly $1,600 during the last five-year sampling.
The Idaho Statesman reports the American Community Survey data collected from 2012-16 show the median household income in the state to be just above $49,000, which is lower than the national number at about $55,000.
The bureau creates a rolling sample of estimates to show characteristics of the population.
Eastern Idaho had the highest and lowest median household incomes with Teton County at more than $58,000 and Clark County at little over $32,000.
Clark County also had the highest number of people below the poverty level with about 27 percent, a 9 percent increase from the previous sampling period. About 15 percent of the population statewide fell below the poverty line.
