SALT LAKE CITY — The 2017 season hasn’t even concluded yet and the Pac-12 has already released its football schedule for the upcoming season.
The University of Utah will kickoff the season against in-state Football Championship Subdivision team Weber State at home in a Thursday night game. Utah will travel to DeKalb, Illinois, to face Northern Illinois in the first of a two-year series between the programs. It will be the first time the two programs have met.
Utah’s annual rivalry game with BYU will be the final game of the season for the first time since Utah joined the Pac-12 in 2011. The Utes and Cougars will play on Saturday, Nov. 24, at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Pac-12 play for the Utes will start in Week 3 as the defensive-minded Washington Huskies come to Salt Lake City in a difficult conference-opening test on Sept. 15. The schedule doesn’t get easier for the Utes as they begin a two-game road trip against Washington State and Stanford after a Week 4 bye.
Utah will return home for a two-game home series against Arizona and USC on Friday, Oct 12, and Saturday, Oct. 20. The USC game will be Utah’s homecoming game for the season.
The remaining schedule includes road contests against UCLA and Arizona State before returning home to play Oregon. Utah will close out Pac-12 play on the road against Colorado on Nov. 17.
The Utes will have one Thursday night and two Friday night games. Game times will be released as the season draws closer.
In other scheduling news, Montana State announced Thursday a one-game matchup against the Utes on Sept. 12, 2020. Utah is set to play BYU in Week 1 and at Wyoming in Week 3 of that season.
