PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have put four of their five starting pitchers on the roster for tonight's National League wild-card game against the Colorado Rockies. In addition to the game's starter Zack Greinke, left-hander Robbie Ray will be in the Arizona bullpen along with fellow starters lefty Patrick Corbin and right-hander Zack Godley. The Rockies will have two starters in their bullpen — left-hander Tyler Anderson and right-hander Antonio Senzatela.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed defensive lineman Ed Stinson and outside linebacker Obum Gwacham, and placed rookie outside linebacker Dylan Donahue on injured reserve. The team also announced that it has signed linebacker Freddie Bishop to the practice squad. Stinson was a fifth-round draft choice of Arizona in 2014 and had 22 tackles in three seasons with the Cardinals. He was waived from injured reserve on Sept. 13.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs coach Andy Reid denounced cornerback Marcus Peters' direction of profanities at fans during Monday night's game against Washington, saying "we can't go in that direction." Reid says the situation, which was caught on camera, has "been addressed." But he declined to say what kind of punishment, if any, was meted out and refused to take questions.
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay say they will make a joint bid to host soccer's centenary World Cup in 2030. The presidents of the three South American countries made the announcement at the presidential palace in Buenos Aires. Bidding is not due to open for at least another four years, but the nations are already expected to face stiff competition.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Alex Morgan has apologized on social media for an incident at Disney World over the weekend. Morgan, a star for the World Cup-winning U.S. national team who also plays for the Orlando Pride, was among three soccer players kicked out of an Epcot park restaurant on Sunday. Authorities say the players were verbally aggressive with park security and other guests.
