UNDATED (AP) — Oklahoma has not been this close to being No. 1 since early in the 2011 season. Ohio State has not been this far away from the top of The Associated Press poll since late in the 2014 season, when the Buckeyes were still recovering from an early season loss but on their way to a championship.
UNDATED (AP) — Nothing raises the antennas of college football fans more than uncertainty at the quarterback position, and there is plenty at about a half-dozen Power Five schools after the second week of the season. No situation is more up in the air than at Texas, which visits No. 4 Southern California this week. Baylor, Boston College, Kansas, Pitt and Texas A&M also have questions.
UNDATED (AP) — Rashaad Penny of San Diego State piled up 353 all-purpose yards against Arizona State to establish a national high for the season. Tulsa's D'Angelo Brewer and Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor joined Penny as 200-yard rushers this past weekend. Clemson's 11 sacks against Auburn matched the most in an FBS game in five years and were the Tigers' most since recording 11 against Utah State in 2004.
UNDATED (AP) — Oklahoma moved up to No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll behind Alabama after the Sooners scored the most impressive victory of week two. Three of the top six teams from last week defeated other ranked teams on Saturday, creating an early shake-up near the top of the AP Top 25.
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson's defense shut down Auburn and left little doubt about how the Tigers would make its latest run at a national title. The third-ranked Tigers had 11 sacks against Auburn and held its opponent to just 117 yards. Defensive end Austin Bryant had four sacks and became the third Clemson player with that many in one game. Clemson's dominant defense will be put to the test next week when it goes to No. 14 Louisville.
