HEBER CITY, Utah (AP) — Authorities have identified an Illinois man who drowned while kayaking at Deer Creek Reservoir in Utah.

Utah State Parks Sgt. Drew Patterson says the victim from Saturday is 32-year-old Anuj Khandelwai, of Urbana, Illinois.

Patterson says Khandelwai and his wife had two life jackets, but were not wearing them.

Patterson says Khandelwai's wife told officials he went "under the water quickly" after the boat flipped, sending both of them into the water.

Khandelwai's wife and friends say he didn't know how to swim.

His wife was rescued by a nearby boater. Search and rescue was not able to initially find him.
