CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A police chase in Wyoming that covered more than 90 miles ended when the pursued vehicle, which included two children inside, ran out of gas.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the incident on Interstate 80 began about 9 a.m. Tuesday when a trooper stopped a speeding Ford Explorer in Carbon County.
The patrol says when a police dog alerted to the presence of narcotics, the driver sped off with his girlfriend and two kids, aged 2 and 7, inside.
Speeds reached around 110 mph during the chase.
When the vehicle ran out of gas, the driver attempted to flee on foot but was captured and taken into custody.
No one was hurt. The patrol says the children were taken into protective custody by the state Department of Family Services.
