PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pitt running backs Qadree Ollison and Darrin Hall are the leaders in the next wave of ball carriers following James Conner's departure to the NFL. Ollison and Hall made an impact as freshmen in 2015 after Conner went down with a knee injury but returned to backup roles last season after Conner returned from a fight with cancer. Ollison and Hall say they're well aware of the running back lineage that precedes them and are eager to add another link to the chain

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke says former Iowa field hockey coach Tracey Griesbaum has joined the Blue Devils as a volunteer assistant coach. Griesbaum spent 14 seasons coaching the Hawkeyes before being fired weeks before the 2014 season. She was let go amid claims by former players that she mistreated them. An internal university review had found no policy violations by Griesbaum. Iowa settled with Griesbaum for $1.5 million to avoid a June trial. She had a 169-107 record with the Hawkeyes.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Florida State enters the 2017 season as the Atlantic Coast Conference favorite over reigning national champion Clemson. Those teams have combined to win the past six ACC titles out of a heavyweight Atlantic Division that also includes returning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson at Louisville.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Women's wrestling could someday be an NCAA-sanctioned sport. A group called Wrestle Like A Girl and its partners say they have submitted a bid seeking emerging sport status from the NCAA. It's a combined effort from USA Wrestling, the U.S. Olympic Committee and other organizations to make women's wrestling a collegiate sport as quickly as possible. The bid will be reviewed next month.
