SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A memorial service for former Notre Dame football coach Ara Parseghian is set for Sunday on the school's northern Indiana campus.
School officials say singer Vince Gill will perform at Sunday afternoon's memorial at Notre Dame's Joyce Center.
Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz and former Irish football player Peter Schivarelli will be among the speakers remembering Parseghian.
NBC News correspondent Anne Thompson, who's a Notre Dame alum, will emcee the memorial for Parseghian, who died Wednesday at age 94.
He had recently returned to his home in Granger, Indiana, after undergoing treatment for an infection in his surgically repaired hip.
Parseghian and the Irish won titles in 1966 and 1973, but he abruptly retired after the 1974 season at age 51 with a record of 95-17-4.
