NEW YORK (AP) — In a story Aug. 3, The Associated Press reported about a new proposal that would do away with a family-based system in which immigrants can sponsor parents, children and siblings and help them become citizens. The proposal would provide exceptions for people to bring elderly immigrant parents to the U.S.
