UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Cubs still pace the NL Central by 2 ½ games over Milwaukee following losses by both teams. Zack Godley worked six innings and combined with three relievers on a three-hitter as Arizona blanked the Cubs, 3-0 at Wrigley Field. Yadier Molina (YAH'-dee-her moh-LEE'-nuh) hit a pair of solo homers before Kolten Wong's two-run double gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 5-1 lead in the sixth inning of a 5-4 victory at Milwaukee.
UNDATED (AP) — Boston and Cleveland were rained out at Fenway Park, giving the Red Sox a one-game lead over the New York Yankees in the AL East and putting the Indians 2 ½ games ahead of Kansas City in the AL Central. Jordan Zimmermann combined with two relievers on a seven-hitter as the Tigers downed the Yankees, 2-0 in a game delayed more than 4 ½ hours by showers. Jeremy Hellickson threw five-hit ball over seven innings of his Orioles debut to lead a 6-0 shutout of the Royals.
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves halted a six-game skid and put an end to the Los Angeles Dodgers' nine-game winning streak. Tyler Flowers ripped a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning to lift the Braves past Los Angeles, 5-3. Danny Santana also smacked a two-run shot as Atlanta sliced the Dodgers' sizeable lead in the NL West to 15 games over Arizona.
MIAMI (AP) — The Washington Nationals dropped their second straight as Vance Worley threw two-hit ball over seven innings of a 7-0 shutout of the Nats. Christian Yelich (YEH'-lihch) and Derek Dietrich belted two-run homers off A.J. Cole, who was charged with five runs in as many innings. The outcome trims Washington's lead in the NL East to 12 games over Miami.
HOUSTON (AP) — Dallas Keuchel (KY'-kul) was pinned with his first loss of the season as Logan Morrison nicked up for a two-run homer in the first inning of the Tampa Bay Rays' 3-0 verdict over the Astros in Houston. Keuchel struggled for the second straight start since coming off the disabled list, giving up three runs and seven hits over five innings. The Astros continue to lead the AL West by a whopping 15 games over Seattle after the Rangers ended the Mariners' four-game winning streak, 5-1.
