PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi has dismissed defensive end Rori Blair and suspended offensive tackle Alex Bookser, linebacker Quintin Wirginis and safety Jordan Whitehead for rules violations less than a week before the team begins fall practice. Narduzzi said Blair was kicked off the team for "conduct detrimental to the program." Whitehead and Wirginis will sit out Pitt's first three games for a violation of team policy. Bookser will miss the Sept. 2 opener against Youngstown State.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer is looking like he might be ready to win Cleveland's starting job. The second-round draft pick is taking snaps with the first-team offense, and coach Hue Jackson says Kizer already has improved since last month's minicamp. Kizer is competing with Cody Kessler and Brock Osweiler to win the starting job. Ideally, Jackson would like to name his starting QB before the Aug. 10 exhibition opener against New Orleans.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Four more Division I conferences will join a men's basketball officiating alliance formed last year by the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big East, the Atlantic 10 and Colonial Athletic Association. The ACC says the Big South, the Ivy League, the Northeast and the Patriot League are joining ahead of the 2017-18 season.
