INCHEON, South Korea — The United States is going to a World Cup quarterfinal, with a little Real Salt Lake flair, too.
Young RSL standouts Brooks Lennon and Justen Glad each tallied a goal and an assist early Thursday morning to lead the United States to a 6-0 win over New Zealand in a Round of 16 match at the U-20 World Cup in Incheon, South Korea.
Six players scored for the United States, including 17-year-old Josh Sargent’s strike that gave him a tournament-high four goals in the 32nd minute.
Lennon’s goal on a counter attack in the 65th minute help put the Americans up 3-0 and put the game away. He then found an open Glad on a corner kick 10 minutes later, and RSL teammate Sebastian Saucedo assisted on Auston Trusty’s goal in the 84th minute to give the Yanks a 5-0 lead.

The 6-0 rout ties for the largest margin of victory in U.S. U-20 World Cup history, and is the largest margin since a 6-0 win over Australia in the opening match of the 1993 U-20 World Cup.
The United States will face Venezuela in a quarterfinal match Sunday at midnight MDT, just hours after the two senior national teams face off in a friendly at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy. The U-20s will play on Fox Sports 2.
