MONTICELLO, Utah (AP) — U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has taken a horseback ride to get a close-up view of two twin buttes that are the namesake of Utah's new Bears Ears National Monument. San Juan County Commissioner and local rancher Bruce Adams said he rode with Zinke for two hours out to the buttes and turned around when it started snowing.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah zoo falcon was killed by wolves after he flew away during a bird show and landed in the wolf pen. Hogle Zoo spokeswoman Erica Hansen said Tuesday that the 17-year-old Lanner Falcon named "Maximus" took an errant turn during the show Sunday and landed in an open-air enclosure home to two wolves. Hansen says a handful of people were watching when the falcon was killed by the wolves.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah state attorney general has agreed to review the death of a 21-year-old woman who authorities say lost weight and became dehydrated during four days in the Duchesne County jail. The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2q2o6wO) that an aide to Attorney General Sean Reyes said Monday the office would look into the death last December of Madison Jensen. State medical examiners say Jensen died of cardiac arrhythmia caused by dehydration and opiate withdrawal.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is reiterating her push for school choice during an annual education technology conference, comparing the issue to being able to switch between phone service providers. DeVos told hundreds of people in a packed auditorium in Salt Lake City on Tuesday that she thinks she has received criticism for her policies because people are afraid of change.
