Pop's big tip
Yes, NBA head coaches make a lot of money. But it's still cool to see someone leave a huge tip on a bill, just because they can. Gregg Popovich left a $5,000 tip on a $800 bill.
This isn't the first time Popovich has done this, either. While Pop is sometimes a man of few words, he's not a man of few tips.
Response to ESPN layoffs
ESPN laid off more than 100 employees Wednesday in the most public-facing round of layoffs the company has had yet. Those laid off were mostly reporters and writers, not "talking heads." A few of those people were my friends, and they're understandably disappointed, and a little bit nervous about not knowing what's to come.
But one thing that does legitimately make a difference: genuine support from those in sports. Charles Barkley of NBA on TNT made this statement:
And Warriors interim coach Mike Brown shouted out Ethan Strauss, one of the departed (and one of the best writers in the NBA), before his press conference Wednesday:
