PHILADELPHIA (AP) — It isn't as large as the massive protest the day after President Donald Trump's inauguration, but women across the country are taking part in the Day Without a Woman protest. There was a march in the nation's capital. Two suburban school districts and elsewhere closed because of staffing shortages. The events come on the same day as the U.N.-designated International Women's Day. In Warsaw, thousands of women demanded that Poland's conservative government grant full birth control rights, respect and higher pay.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The leaders of a congressional inquiry into Russia's efforts to sway the U.S. election have called on the Justice Department to produce any evidence that supports President Donald Trump's explosive wiretapping allegation. Trump tweeted that former President Barack Obama had tapped his phones at Trump Tower during the campaign. Sen. Lindsey Graham says Congress "must get to the bottom" of the claim. He's called for the FBI and the deputy attorney general to produce any evidence for a warrant needed for wiretaps.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump's former national security adviser has registered as a foreign agent with the Justice Department for $530,000 worth of lobbying work that may have aided the Turkish government. Michael Flynn was fired from his prominent White House job last month over misleading comments about his communications with Russia's ambassador. A Flynn lawyer says his client voluntarily registered for lobbying that "could be construed to have principally benefited the Republic of Turkey."
ATLANTA (AP) — Elections officials in Georgia's predominantly-black Hancock County have agreed to restore the voting rights of black voters who were disenfranchised ahead of a racially divided local election. The officials sent deputies to deliver documents to residents who had their registration challenged. Advocates say purges of voter registration lists remain common across the South, particularly in rural and poor areas.
FOX CROSSING, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin authorities say the search for the culprits who stole 100,000 diapers has come to an end. The Post-Crescent reports that police in Fox Crossing believe they've gotten to the bottom of the case. Two men have been charged with swiping 1,800 cases of diapers valued at more than $45,000 from a charity that serves needy families. The suspects formerly worked at the warehouse where the theft occurred, allegedly indicating an inside job.
