NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities have found the body of a woman missing for nearly a week inside her car three days after it was declared abandoned and towed from a North Charleston apartment complex.
Hanahan Deputy Police Chief Michael Fowler told media outlets that no one realized there was a body inside the car when it was towed Friday.
Fowler says the manager of the apartment complex then saw news of 23-year-old Kelly Kenney's disappearance over the weekend and recognized the car's personalized license tag.
Fowler says police searched the car Monday and found the body. The coroner's office says an autopsy will be conducted to determine how Kenney died. They won't say whether foul play is suspected.
Police say Kenney was last seen at a downtown Charleston bar Feb. 28.
