UNDATED (AP) — Another spot has been claimed in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Wichita State grabbed it yesterday by winning the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title game. The 21st-ranked Shockers ripped Illinois State, 71-51.

UNDATED (AP) — Winthrop joins Wichita State and Jacksonville State on the list of teams who've earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. It's the Eagles first berth since 2010. They beat Campbell for the Big South Conference title yesterday, 76-59.

PHOENIX (AP) — Boston maintains its grip on the NBA's Atlantic Division, with a 109-106 win in Phoenix, Sunday. Rookie Tyler Ulis hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer for the final margin.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — The hottest team in the NHL right now isn't in the imposing Metropolitan Division, it's out West. The Calgary Flames ran their winning streak to seven games, by torching the New York Islanders 5-2 on Sunday. The Flames remain in fourth place in the Pacific Division, but the streak has given them a solid grip on the first Western Conference wild-card spot.

UNDATED (AP) — Columbus and Pittsburgh remain tied for second in the Metropolitan Division this morning after Sunday victories. Sergei Bobrovsky (boh-BRAHF'-skee) held the Blue Jackets' opponent off the scoreboard for the second straight game, as Columbus beat the Devils, 3-0, in New Jersey. Goaltending was a story of a different kind in Pittsburgh, where the Penguins fell behind the Sabres, 3-0, in the first period. Out came Matt Murray and in went Marc-Andre Fleury for the second, and the Pens rallied behind the veteran netminder for a 4-3 win.
