BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Agencies responsible for operating 14 federal dams in the Columbia River Basin say $500 million spent annually on habitat restoration projects and improvements at dams are helping salmon and steelhead. The Bonneville Power Administration, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation have released a report outlining projects from 2007 to 2015.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A 29-year-old woman has been killed in a one-vehicle crash in Pocatello. The Idaho State Patrol says Connie Mathews of Blackfoot, Idaho, was driving north on Interstate 15 early Sunday morning when she drove off the right shoulder, rolling her vehicle. Mathews was ejected and died at the scene.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — More than 2,000 people braved a chilly drizzle and rallied at the Idaho Capitol to demand that public lands be kept in the hands of the government. One hunter at the rally said he doesn't think politicians fully understand the groundswell of opposition to transferring management of public lands to states. The Idaho Statesman reports that polls show a majority of Idahoans liked the idea of state takeover of federal land until they learn that doing so could cost billions of dollars annually.

CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — Officials in southwest Idaho say a plan to build bike lanes and pedestrian pathways around Lake Lowell that also connects the nearby cities of Caldwell and Nampa is taking shape. Canyon Highway District engineer Timothy Richard tells the Idaho Press-Tribune that the lake portion of the plan could begin this June. The goal is to create a system that connects residents of Caldwell and Nampa to Lake Lowell and the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge.
