BAGHDAD (AP) — An Iraqi commander says Islamic State militants dispatched at least six suicide car bombs as troops began moving toward the local government complex in Mosul's IS-held western side. Maj. Gen. Haider al-Maturi of the Federal Police Commandos Division says the fighting has featured the "heaviest" clashes since the start of the new push more than two weeks ago. He says all six car bombs were destroyed before doing any damage.

JERUSALEM (AP) — An Israeli newspaper is reporting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered and then backed away from a deal that would have created a unity government with the country's opposition leader that would have included efforts to create a Palestinian state and to rein in West Bank settlement construction. Haaretz (hah-ah-REHTS') reports the offer came months after a secret summit in Jordan that then-Secretary of State John Kerry organized.

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — After a well-received speech to Congress on Tuesday, President Donald Trump was back to his old Twitter habits over the weekend, accusing Barack Obama of ordering his Trump Tower telephones tapped during last year's elections. Trump's tweets offered no evidence, prompting one Republican senator to ask the president to provide some, either to the general public or at least the Senate.

NEW YORK (AP) — There's another report today of a possible vandalism incident at a predominantly Jewish cemetery. A New York Police Department spokesman says the hate crimes division has been notified of headstones found toppled over at Washington Cemetery in Brooklyn. There has been a rash of vandalism at Jewish cemeteries and 122 bomb threats called in to Jewish organizations in three dozen states since early January.

NEW DELHI (AP) — It was a record flight with not a male in sight. Air India said it has set a world record by flying around the world with an all-female crew. Press Trust of India reports that apart from the all-female cockpit and cabin crew, the other staff involved in the flight — including ground staff and the air traffic controllers — were all women. The flight was part of celebrations for International Women's Day, which falls on Wednesday.
