SMITHFIELD, Utah (AP) — Authorities say two people have been arrested after a 14-year-old girl was found seriously injured in a dry canal bed in northern Utah.
Cache County Sheriff's officials won't elaborate on the identities of the two male suspects or the circumstances of their arrests, but a news conference is planned Tuesday morning.
The girl was found east of Sky View High in Smithfield, but she doesn't attend that school.
Authorities had been searching for her for several hours Friday after her family reported her missing earlier in the day.
Sheriff's officials say the girl had "significant injuries" and was flown to a Salt Lake-area hospital for further treatment.
Authorities haven't said how the girl was injured or ended up in the canal and she hasn't been identified by the sheriff's office.
