OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A newspaper reports that Utah's snowpack so far is big and wet this winter.
According to the Standard-Examiner (https://goo.gl/BsMkyR ), the National Resource Conservation Service reports the snowpack statewide at 130 percent of normal, compared with 113 percent a year ago
In northern Utah, the Weber-Ogden River Basin had a snow water equivalent rate of 123 percent of normal as of Jan. 1, while the Bear River Basin was at 125 percent of normal.
Both were near average at this time last year.
The conservation service cautions that three critical snow months lie ahead and says "any outcome is possible."
Utah last year had above-average snowpack by January, but many water basins in southern Utah were left dry for the rest of the winter.
