SANDY — Looks like Real Salt Lake is looking to make a splash.

Multiple sources are reporting that RSL has offered a two-year Designated Player contract to U.S. Men's National Team legend Landon Donovan. Charles Boehm of Soccerwire had the story first, and Blake Thompson of Sports Illustrated's The Cauldron confirmed the news:

> BREAKING: The [@cboehm]( rumors are true. I can confirm that Real Salt Lake has offered a two-year DP deal to Landon Donovan. > > — Blake Thomsen (@blakecthomsen) [December 29, 2016](

ESPN's Julie Stewart-Binks reported that Donovan is also considering an offer from an Eastern Conference team:

> Can confirm that Landon Donovan has also just been offered a deal from an eastern conference team in addition to RSL offer. [\#MLS]( > > — Julie Stewart-Binks (@JSB\_TV) [December 29, 2016](

RSL has money to spend after the departures of Javier Morales, Juan Manuel Martinez, Jamison Olave, and others. Donovan, though, is a surprising name. Unequivocally the most decorated USMNT player ever, Donovan retired from soccer in 2014 after leading the Los Angeles Galaxy to the MLS Cup. Donovan returned to the Galaxy on Sept. 18, 2016, playing in their six remaining matches of the regular season, starting in five. He also played in all three MLS playoff matches for the Galaxy.

Donovan is 34 years old.

In other RSL news, Fox Sports NL is reporting that Real Salt Lake has made an offer for attacking midfielder Albert Rusnak, who is currently playing for FC Gronigen in the Netherlands. Rusnak started his professional career at Manchester City.

> BREAKING: FC Groningen en Real Salt Lake City akkoord over overgang Albert [\#Rusnák](ák?src=hash), die nog wel persoonlijk tot overeenstemming moet komen. > > — Martijn Visscher (@MartijnVisscher) [December 29, 2016](
