BEIRUT (AP) — Media reports in Turkey are quoting the country's foreign minister as saying a lasting cease-fire and political solution in Syria are "close." The comments come hours after the state-run news agency said Russia and Turkey had reached an agreement for a cease-fire plan comprising the whole of Syria.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry is scheduled to deliver a final policy speech on Mideast peace today at the State Department in Washington. An Israeli minister is already criticizing the planned speech, saying it will limit President-elect Donald Trump's ability to set his own policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

MOSCOW (AP) — Russia's Defense Ministry says search teams have recovered another flight recorder from a military plane that crashed in the Black Sea Sunday, killing all 92 people aboard. Experts have begun analyzing the first flight recorder that was found a day earlier. The T-u-154 crashed into the sea two minutes after taking off in good weather.

GENEVA (AP) — Police in southern Switzerland say the body of an American hiker who apparently fell nearly 500 feet has been found in the region known for the famed Matterhorn peak. Police say they have identified the 52-year-old man but declined to release his name or home, citing Swiss privacy laws.

LITTLE TORCH KEY, Fla. (AP) — Three Orange County, California, teens are safe in the Florida Keys thanks to a marine deputy who rescued them from atop a capsized boat. A Monroe County Sheriff's spokeswoman says the two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old climbed atop the capsized boat and called 911 on a cellphone Tuesday.
