ALTA, Wyo. (AP) — Search and rescue teams are looking for a Grand Targhee Resort employee who failed to show up for work after telling friends he wanted to go backcountry snowboarding. The Jackson Hole News and Guide (http://bit.ly/2i5XAB0) repots the 34-year-old man from Driggs, Idaho did not report to work Friday. Teton County sheriff's deputy Kristen Larsen says he is an experienced snowboarder, but it's unclear whether he is familiar with the backcountry. The man's name has not been released.

GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has confirmed a case of chronic wasting disease in deer hunt area northwest of Gillette. It's the first time the disease has been found in a Gillette hunt area, although the area is bordered on the east and west by deer hunt areas where chronic wasting disease has been found as early as 2007.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Badlands National Park is expanding the area where bison range in the north unit by more than 35 square miles after a yearlong stewardship and environmental impact plan was finalized. Park officials tell the Rapid City Journal that one of the reasons for the expansion is to give visitors more opportunities to view the animals and provide for a better park experience. Badlands superintendent Mike Pflaum says more than 90 percent of the park's visitors never see a bison.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Outgoing Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen will lead the Wyoming Association of Municipalities after he hands over his position to Mayor-elect Marian Orr on Jan. 3. The Wyoming News Tribune reports that Kaysen will become the association's interim executive director on Jan. 4.
